The soon to be launched 250cc..
Video Rating: 4 / 5

My first impressions and best guesses of Honda’s new [to the US market] fuel-injected single. I snuck over there while working for Kawasaki at the International Motorcycle Show in Chicago. No, I haven’t ridden it, but I give my advice based on my experience on other 250′s (Ninja 250 and KLX250sf). Man, I wish *MY* 250 single was fuel-injected. Jealous. Yamaha offers a fuel injected 250 (wr250x) and now Honda does. When is Kawi gonna get it??

@claolpin Totally agree…it was a joke to put the CBR badge on a single-cylinder commuter/tourer but then again seems like Honda have just given up. The CBR600RR is 10 years old and has not been updated since 2007. They released the Crossover which is a rehashed 10 year old design. The CBR600F is nice I admit..but too little from Honda…they need to wake up. No wonder the Japanese economy is stagnant…if that’s the best the execs of big companies can do…total idiots.

@Gaucho012 You must be joking…looks like something from the 1980s. Those wheels are old skool and I have no idea what makes it “modern” in your eyes…lol The Ninja 250 looks like a spaceship compared to this rowing boat.

It’s sad that they made these bikes look so terrible. The license plate thing sticking out, so awful. For some reason it is very cheap looking too, like a cheap plastic toy. It’s sad we can’t have a better selection of lightweights like the Europeans and Asians get.

Dude is kind of right about riding on the highway, you can do it but you feel uneasy all the way, if you are brave enough then duck down then the wind won’t catch you as much.

I’ve got one and for a 250 it is fun. I took it for a 100 mile trip on Labor Day and loved it. Way better feel than my XR650L. Cruises at 70 no problem.

@JimNtexas I own both the ninja and cbr. I don’t agree that the ninja is superior. It depends on what you want out of your bike. The ninja may be a touch faster, but the cbr is more nimble and has better low end torque. The cbr is way more comfortable. I enjoy both bikes, but if I could have only one it would be the cbr.

It’s funny to hear him talk about the wind blowing it all over the road and he hasn’t even rode it yet.

Honda!
You should bring the CBR 150R And 125R models to america! They are both great starter bikes, and they are both considered mopeds here. Which means 15 and 16 year olds can ride a real sport bike that has real sport bike power, gears, and rpm, instead of some ugly CVT mopeds.

Honestly LJ, you’ll end up on a 600cc bike. It’s got all the power you’ll ever want, it’s lightweight like a Ninja 500, and it’s got way more power than a vtwin Ninja 650. Since you’re a light rider, you’ll have the same acceleration as a heavy rider (me) on a liter bike. Everybody around the world wants bigger bikes, and we in the US *THINK* we want smaller bikes.

250s are actually fine on the highway. I ride my honda rebel on the highway all the time and it’s slower and less powerful than this bike.

The CBR production is gonna be undertaken in indonesia(if im not wrong) and India. Here in India this bike costs 1/3rd less than the Ninja 250 and already 1800 bikes have been booked in the first month. There has not been one bike to test ride nor show but yet so many bookings already taken place. I would totally go for the Ninja if the prices were the same but cbr being a lot cheaper here makes you re-think.

@karlosdajackal
I completely agree Karlosdajackal. Very naive comment on the part of the reviewer. Not sure how this myth was perpetuated. Probably by the same people who think that sugar causes hyperactivity. What I find interesting is the the 2011 Honda CBR 600RR only weighs 35lbs – yes 35 lbs! – more “wet” than a 2011 Ninja 250R. I’ve never ever heard anyone say that the 600RR is a terrible bike for the highway because it gets blown around all over the road.

I like the fuel injection, but otherwise this bike is inferior to yhe Ninja 250. Its slower, heavier, and no place for frame sliders. I don’t have as much wind trouble on my Ninja 250, but I out weigh LJ by 100 pounds.

Even though I say Hyosung is EFI I really want to look at this bike, it seems more noob friendly and has better technology in most cases to Kawi and a few aspects that I like better than the Hyo. Plus it is a Honda.

Out here in the West, we get many wide open areas without trees. The wind is much more prevalent than back home in the Midwest. With those high winds, the small bikes make riding a bit challenging, if not impossible some times. A big bike has it’s place out here, as the threshold of getting blown into the other lane is vastly reduced. We have higher speed limits too. I like big bikes.
I think you would make an excellent Motorcycle salesperson., Most are dull.

I actually almost waited on purchasing the ninja 250 because I knew this bike was coming out soon. I’m pretty happy with the ninja. I’d love to take that bike on a ride to see how it is.
